I am working with James and Ben, our production company is called JDB Media.
The song we have chosen is 'Afterglow' by Wilkinson. We all like the song and the genre of Drum and Bass.
We sent a tweet to Wilkinson, asking for permission to use the song.

Moodboard to visualise our initial ideas and inspiration.
Sources of Inspiration/ Creativity
We want to use smooth tracking shots as seen as this video, we also like how the camera looks up at the singers, giving them authority.
This video uses the kind of lighting we could use for the video. It is low key, but the colours and the way the shutters create shadows and lines make it very interesting and appealing to the audience.
This video contains graphical overlays which are nearly exactly what we want to achieve in our music video. The seamless integration makes the video this video stand out from other videos in its genre. It is very well executed, and has a conceptual tone which we would like to replicate.
We want to make a conceptual style music video, taking some features from this video. From the 35 seconds, the colours, dancing and patterns created by the light are all features we could take inspiration.
The first 15 seconds of this music video have inspired us in three ways. We would like to replicate a similar shot of the car pulling up, we like how the sound changes when the car door opens, mimicking what music sounds like from the outside (low pass filter). The third source of inspiration is the use of the album name in the video itself. This can be seen behind the car on the red sign (Pharmacy).
We would like to include a time lapse of the sunset in our video, as this links with the lyrics very well and is visually appealing, Here is an example of what we would like to achieve. The warm colour and lens flare make this time lapse satisfying to watch, although it is a redundant feature of many videos, it is tried and tested and works well.
This video contains brilliant time lapses which feature amazing colour and detail. Of course, this is far beyond what we are able to achieve, however as inspiration, it allows us to aim high so that we challenge ourselves, rather than create mediocre footage, only because it doesn't meant we dont have to start filming at 5am and stop at 10pm

We are thinking about the possibility of including stars in the video, at the end, for example. Although this image from Instagram is ideal, we do not have the time, facilities or equipment to take images like this one.
Instagram is a useful place to source inspiration from because many users publish the technical details of how they took the picture. This is useful for us because we can replicate these camera settings, and be sure to come up with similar results. Below is an image which is a little more achievable. We could look more at star trails, like the image shown below this one.
We like long exposure photography, making shapes and text with light. This is something which we would like to add to our music video. This particular image is the album cover of a song by David Guetta and Robin Schulz. The genre overlaps with Afterglow's, so it is likely to be a successful feature for our video.

Here is a video example of light long exposure, potentially we may write afterglow using a torch or other light sources to create an album such as Shed a Light as show above. We are inspired by the images and stills in the first 8 seconds of this video, as we feel it has a great strong composition, and is a good way to introduce the video.
We are inspired by the work of award winning American director Hannah Lux Davis, who has worked on many popular music videos. She is best known for working with artists in our chosen genre: Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus, Hailee Steinfeld, Fifth Harmony, Demi Lovato, Little Mix, Jessie J, Tinashe and Lil Wayne. Below is an example of her work. We are inspired by her use of colour in the lighter flame, editing style, the use of colour and mise en scene. The way she experiments with shot variety, but still creates a seamless video, makes her work stand out from that of other directors.
Lyric analysis to describe and illustrate the meanings and ideas behind the song.
An audience profile, of an average viewer of our music video
After research, we learnt the basics of After Effects and created these different firms of text, which we could potentially use for our introduction, once we have our own moving video behind it.
